Lyneham Solar Farm
CLIENT: DEFENCE INFRASTRUCTURE ORGANISATION
In January 2015, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation appointed PPS, now known as Ethical Power Development, to run a mini competition in order to procure design, funding, construction and commissioning of a 70MW solar park at the Defence Technical and Training College, Lyneham, Wiltshire, on the former RAF Lyneham airbase.
At the time, this was the UK’s largest solar park and we had a limited timeframe in which to run the competition in order to find a company that could undertake all the required aspects within the short 10-week window.
After a rigorous tender process, the contract was awarded to British Solar Renewables, with the solar park being built by the critical 31st March 2015 deadline securing accreditation for the renewable Obligation subsidy before it was withdrawn.
