Customer Communication - CORONAVIRUS COVID-19

Dear Customer,

The continued safety of our customers and colleagues is of utmost importance to us, but even more so now we adapt to a period of COVID-19 uncertainty.

Public Power Solutions has been working hard to ensure that the latest government advice is being followed as it develops.

We want to take this opportunity to assure you whilst the Household Waste Recycling Centre and Commercial Waste Recycling areas are currently closed we continue to take and process waste collected by Swindon Borough Council as well as some third party waste. We continue to take steps to minimise any disruption, despite these unprecedented challenges and incredibly fast-moving changes.

These include:

  • Senior management taskforce to ensure we stay abreast of COVID-19 developments, procedures and practices to keep everyone safe and the business operational.
  • Moving some colleagues to remote working to protect the operational teams who are at the sharp end of our business.
  • Operational changes, symptom identification and self-isolation guidance.
  • Strictly following government advice to avoid the spread of the virus.

However, we are not immune to the same challenges facing all businesses and as a result are instigating the following changes, with immediate effect, to keep you and our customers and workers as safe as possible during this period.

  • Customers must not visit the site unless absolutely necessary
  • Customers should not visit the site without informing PPS in advance, when they will be asked to complete a short questionnaire regarding COVID-19.
  • Customers should follow a strict hygiene protocol including hand washing before eating or smoking. Alcohol gel is also available.
  • Customers should stay at least 2 meters away from others when on site.
  • Customers should only stay on site for the minimal amount of time possible.
  • Waste and recycling off-take remains unchanged, however, whilst on site drivers will be required to undertake strict hygiene control, remain in their vehicles whenever possible or ensure social distancing (2m).

We trust you understand and support the requirement for this temporary change in procedure. Clearly, we will communicate when this position changes.

In the meantime, stay safe and keep an eye out for those who are vulnerable in your community.
