Landfill Reduction Solutions

Turning Problems into Opportunities

In the UK, local authorities spend over £1Bn per year on landfill tax, sending around 15 million tonnes of waste to landfill. Public Power Solutions see this waste as a resource and have pioneered a unique technology in the UK to convert household waste to a renewable fuel that can replace traditional fossil fuels.

Our Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) plant in Swindon is currently converting 50,000 tonnes of household waste per year into fuel.  If you’re interested in reducing your landfill requirement by up to 97% and producing a useful fuel, then please contact us.

Case Study

N+P Alternative Fuels, have been using the fuel produced from the SRF plant at Swindon as a substitute for fossil fuels. The solution being used by PPS is a fantastic way of using household waste and turning it into a valuable fuel. We have been working with PPS over the last few years and have found the team extremely good to work with, this brings the cooperation to a higher level and thus results in better outcomes, for both parties.

We have worked with PPS to develop a solution to divert our waste from landfill. PPS has implemented an innovative new technology which we understand, is the first of its kind in the UK to use household waste to produce a fuel (RDF and SRF) to be used as a substitute for fossil fuels. We are now recycling, composting and treating through the SRF Plant 96% of our waste. This has allowed Swindon Borough Council to avoid additional landfill costs of £1.5m in 2014/15 which will increase in 2015/2016 to £2m
