Our Waste Solutions business develops innovative solutions for waste management and treatment with an aim to turn waste previously sent to landfill into a valuable resource.

In the UK, Local Authorities spend over £1Bn per year on landfill tax, sending around 15 million tonnes of waste to landfill. Public Power Solutions see this waste as a resource.  We have pioneered a unique technology in the UK to convert household waste to a renewable fuel that can replace traditional fossil fuels.

Our Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) Plant was developed and built in 2014.  It was the first of its kind to use municipal household waste as its primary feed.  The plant in Swindon, is currently converting 55,000 tonnes of household waste per year into fuel.

The solution being used by PPS is a fantastic way of using household waste and turning it into a valuable fuel. We have been working with PPS over the last few years and have found the team extremely good to work with, this brings the cooperation to a higher level and thus results in better outcomes, for both parties.Mark Robson, N+P Alternative Fuels
We have worked with PPS to develop a solution to divert our waste from landfill. PPS has implemented an innovative new technology which we understand, is the first of its kind in the UK to use household waste to produce a fuel (RDF and SRF) to be used as a substitute for fossil fuels. We are now recycling, composting and treating through the SRF Plant 97% of our waste. This has allowed Swindon Borough Council to avoid additional landfill costs of £1.5m in 2014/15 which will increase in 2015/2016 to £2m.Leon Barrett, Head of StreetSmart, Swindon Borough Council
